Risk Specialist

Position overview

Nvalue is looking for a motivated Risk Specialist to join the risk management team in Varna, Bulgaria. The role supports the Risk Manager in analytical, reporting and data-management activities across counterparty credit risk, market risk and governance processes.

The successful candidate will play a hands-on, execution-focused role, helping ensure the accuracy, consistency and timeliness of risk outputs in an international energy and environmental markets environment.

This position is suited to someone with strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a genuine eagerness to learn within a dynamic and evolving sector.

What you will do

Counterparty Credit Risk Analysis

  • Conduct ongoing financial analysis of counterparties, including review and interpretation of financial statements, credit metrics, and payment behaviour.
  • Evaluate counterparty creditworthiness and flag changes in financial condition that may affect exposure or limit adequacy.
  • Maintain and update the counterparty risk register, credit limit records, and exposure tracking.
  • Support the preparation of structured credit assessments for review by the Risk Manager.

Risk Management Support

  • Contribute to the ongoing monitoring and reporting of risk exposures.
  • Produce internal risk reports and governance materials.
  • Assist in the execution of risk models and scenario analyses within established frameworks.
  • Maintain limit utilization tracking, escalation records, and risk dashboard maintenance on a regular basis.

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Monitor and report on financial KPIs across approved projects and portfolios.
  • Contribute to investment proposal reviews through data gathering and financial modelling.
  • Drive periodic reporting and performance tracking activities, including preparation of materials for Risk Committee and Board-level review.

Data Management & Automation

  • Collect, validate, and structure risk and trade data from internal systems to feed model inputs and reporting workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reduce manual processes, and enhance reporting efficiency.

What we are looking for

Required technical knowledge and expertise

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in risk management, financial or credit analysis, preferably in energy, trading, or financial services.
  • Thorough and in-depth understanding of financial statements and credit metrics.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to work with large datasets, automate repetitive reporting tasks, and develop analytical tools.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Python, SQL, or BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with energy or commodity markets, OTC trading, or EAC/GO products is highly valued.

Soft skills

  • Analytical mindset with high attention to detail and accuracy, and a structured approach to complex data and risk scenarios.
  • Reliable and able to take ownership, working autonomously within defined frameworks.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, balance competing deadlines, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative approach with clear communication and the ability to engage, align, and work effectively with multiple stakeholders across functions.
  • Learning mindset and flexibility, comfortable working in dynamic and rapidly changing environments, and able to adjust to shifting priorities and evolving business needs.

Language skills

Fluent English is mandatory. Additional European languages such as Bulgarian, Italian, German or French will be considered a plus.

Contract, location and remuneration

  • Contract: Unlimited – Full Time
  • Location: Varna, Bulgaria – Hybrid
  • Annual gross salary range: €23,000 – €27,000, depending on experience and skills
  • Bonus: Discretionary annual performance bonus up to 30% of base salary
