Many organizations are actively committing to combat climate change by incorporating renewables at the heart of their operations.
At Nvalue, we are determined to support you in this energy transition.
There are two primary ways for an organization to procure renewable energy:
- By installing production systems, often solar, directly on their sites.
- By choosing to purchase renewable energy from external sources.
Most organizations opt for off-site purchasing, using one of the two most common methods:
- Signing long-term contracts, better known as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs)
- Acquiring unbundled Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs).
Both of these options are aligned with international carbon accounting standards, enabling organizations to meet their renewable energy usage goals.
Energy Attribute Certificates are referred to as “Guarantees of Origins” (GOs) in Europe or “Renewable Energy Certificates” (RECs) in the United States. They provide a legitimate and reliable framework for tracking and claiming renewable energy consumption. Holding an EAC generated by a renewable energy installation – wind, solar, or hydroelectric – grants the holder the right to claim the environmental benefits associated with that energy production. In the below graph, you can see the world map of EACs.
