Switzerland Leads the Way: 80% Renewable Electricity for Second Year Running
For the second consecutive year, 80% of the electricity consumed in Switzerland comes from renewable sources, confirming the excellent position at the European level, also thanks to the full consumption disclosure.
To obtain this result, the Swiss suppliers are actively engaged, in fact the production mix and the mix distributed by the suppliers do not coincide.
The Swiss electricity generation mix consists of 52.8% hydropower, 36.4% nuclear, 1.4% fossil fuels and 9.4% new renewable energies (Swiss production mix 2022).
However, electricity suppliers choose to provide Swiss end consumers with a greener mix, using European Guarantees of Origin.
